En Primeur

Buying en-primeur is essentially buying wine futures before it has been bottled. Traditionally Bordeaux is offered en-primeur six to seven months after it has been made, for example, the 2000 vintage was offered in May 2001. Wines from the Rhône and from Burgundy are offered later, for example, the wines from the 2000 vintage were offered in January 2002.

If you buy en-primeur, payment is with order, and we send you an invoice that acts as your certificate of title. Once the wine is bottled we will ship the wine to our bonded warehouse whereupon you will be contacted for your onward delivery or storage instructions. The time scale of delivery varies with each region but they are normally

  • Bordeaux – available 2yrs from the date of purchase.
  • Burgundy, Rhone and all others, unless specified, are available within 12 months of their purchase date.
