As the most expensive Burgundy in the world, La Romanee-Conti (a monopole owned by the domaine, DRC is the exception to the law according to which no estate in Burgundy may be named after a specific vineyard) must always be judged by higher standards than all the rest. Yet one can never fail to be amazed by the stunning array of flavours that continuously unfold in this fabulously concentrated and utterly complex wine. The other grand cru wines DRC produces are La Tache (also a monopole), Richebourg, Romanee-St Vivant, Grands Echezeaux and Echezeaux and a miniscule amount of le Montrachet.
