Sesti's 2005 Brunello di Montalcino is a tightly wound, focused offering imbued with scorched earth, smoke, licorice and red cherries, all of which flow from an authoritative, powerful frame. It remains one of the firmer wines of the vintage, but there is a lot to like. Suggestions of smoke and tar reappear on the finish. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2022.
