Introducing you to our top picks from Burgundy's most esteemed villages.

Welcome to Burgundy Week at Seckford. Each village in this prestigious region tells a distinct story, shaped by site, soil and tradition. We’re currently holding one of the strongest and most comprehensive Burgundy selections, and over the next few emails, we’ll introduce you to incredible wines as starting points to each village, where you can further explore.

We begin with ChablisVolnay and Morey-Saint-Denis:

Chablis

2024, Chablis, 1er Cru Beauroy, Agnes et Didier Dauvissat

£140 per 6 IB
£189 incl duty & VAT

On the right bank of the Serein, wines from Chablis are all about clean Chardonnay in its purest form. Beauroy, one of the key Premier Cru sites, is prized for wines that combine freshness with depth of fruit. This Dauvissat stays true to that style, leaning into real precision, with citrus and green apple at the fore alongside that firm Chablis minerality and a subtle saline edge. Although drinking well now with food, this wine has the structure to age comfortably over the next decade.

Volnay

2017, Volnay, 1er Cru Carelle sous la Chapelle, Francois Buffet

£265 per 6 IB
£339 incl duty & VAT

On a hillside between Pommard to the north and Meursault to the south, the village of Volnay is prized for producing wines with perfume, finesse and a silky texture, making it one of the most elegant corners of the Côte de Beaune. François Buffet's wines sit firmly in that mould, producing expressions that deliver unmistakable balance over extraction. The 2019 Volnay 1er Cru Carelle sous la Chapelle shows pure red cherry and raspberry fruit, a gentle floral lift and finely woven tannins, supple and poised.

Morey-Saint-Denis

2020 Morey Saint Denis, En la Rue de Vergy, Lingier-Michelot

£245 per 6 IB
£315 incl duty & VAT

Sitting between Gevrey-Chambertin and Chambolle-Musigny, Morey-Saint-Denis is known for Pinot Noir that balances structure and elegance. The En la Rue de Vergy is simply delicious in our opinion and comes from higher, cooler slopes above the village. Precise red fruit, a touch of spice, savoury undertones and a fine mineral edge. This will develop further with a few years in bottle. Lignier-Michelot wines are amongst the favourites at Seckford, and this beautiful Morey-Saint-Denis shows why.
