Tasting Notes

Vinous Stephen Tanzer - 01 Jan 17
(from fruit picked on September 15 with 13.6% potential alcohol, according to Lignier; 70% vendange entier): Bright dark red. Very ripe raspberry and chocolate aromas are accented by licorice and mint. Conveys more mineral energy than the Faconnières, as well as excellent density to its dark berry flavors. Classically dry on the finish, showing strong saline minerality and serious tannins. This rather powerful wine from 50-year-old vines conveys strong terroir character. Lignier noted that this wine and the Faconnières have done a flip-flop since the racking.

Morey-Saint-Denis

Morey-Saint-Denis, a prestigious appellation in Burgundy's Côte de Nuits, is known for its elegant, well-structured Pinot Noir wines that balance the power of Gevrey-Chambertin and the finesse of Chambolle-Musigny. These wines feature flavours of red and black fruits, earthy spices, and floral notes, with refined tannins and excellent ageing potential. Home to five Grand Cru vineyards, including Clos de Tart and Clos Saint-Denis, top producers like Domaine Dujac, Domaine Ponsot, and Domaine des Lambrays are celebrated for their traditional winemaking and expressive wines.
