Vinous Neal Martin - 01 Aug 20
The 2016 Duhart-Milon has an unusually opulent bouquet for a Pauillac, offering blackberry, raspberry coulis, sage and light cedar aromas. The medium-bodied palate offers fine tannins and well-judged acidity, though overall it comes across a little conservative and does not quite deliver the flair and finesse of the appellation’s top crus. Tasted blind at the Southwold tasting.

Duhart-Milon 2016 is a blend of 67% Cabernet Sauvignon and 33% Merlot and is deep garnet-colored. It offers up notes of blackberry preserves, warm cassis, and black raspberries, plus hints of sweaty leather, iodine, and unsmoked cigars. Light to medium-bodied, the palate has a firm frame of chewy tannins and a lively backbone supporting the delicate savory/meaty layers, finishing on a ferrous note.
