2007 - Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Kabinett, Joh. Jos. Prum

Delicate aromas of cherry, apple blossom and sweet herbs. Firm apricot pit flavor, with a nice balance of sweetness and acidity to frame the palate. The elegant finish features persistent slate minerality. An excellent kabinett.

The Weins-Prum 2007 Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Kabinett, smells of apple and brown spices, is even more delicate than the corresponding Wurzgarten, and yet manages despite around 50 grams of residual sugar not to taste overly sweet. This should perform nicely for a decade. As usual, Bert Selbach eschewed any attempt at late-harvested or botrytis fireworks, preferring to render - with one exception - the best-possible Kabinett and Spatlese Rieslings from his range of top-potential sites.
