Vinous Josh Raynolds - 01 Jan 08
Bright purple. Room-filling bouquet of seductive red and dark berry preserves, along with sexy incense and fresh floral qualities. Much fresher than last year's showing, with deep, sweet raspberry and candied blackberry flavors, silky tannins and a brisk, energetic finish. This has remarkable clarity and cling. Built to last but there'd be no crime in drinking it now.

Châteauneuf-du-Pape Vineyard Fine Wine

Chateauneuf-du-Pape

Châteauneuf-du-Pape, a prestigious appellation in France's Southern Rhône Valley, is famous for its rich, complex red wines. These full-bodied wines primarily feature Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre, with bold flavours of dark fruit, spices, and earthy undertones, often with a peppery note and velvety texture. The region's unique terroir, marked by large round stones and diverse soils, adds depth to its wines. Top producers include Domaine du Pegau, Château de Beaucastel, and Domaine Janasse, all celebrated for showcasing Châteauneuf-du-Pape's distinctive character.
