Tasting Notes

Vinous Stephen Tanzer - 01 Jul 16
(from vines planted in 1974 and 1950): Musky wet stone and lemon on the nose. Boasts almost painful cut to its tight flavors of citrus peel, minerals and sexy soil tones; showing much more fruit and minerality than the young 2015 edition. Finishes lemony and taut, with notes of humid vegetable matter and crushed stone. This will need patience.

Chablis

Chablis, the northernmost Burgundy region, is famed for its crisp, mineral-driven Chardonnay wines. Unlike rich, oaky Chardonnays, Chablis wines, influenced by the cool climate and limestone-rich soils, feature vibrant acidity and flavours of green apple, citrus, and flint. Ideal with seafood, especially oysters, Chablis wines come in four appellations: Petit Chablis, Chablis, Chablis Premier Cru, and Chablis Grand Cru. Esteemed producers like Domaine William Fèvre, François Raveneau, and Vincent Dauvissat are known for their classic, terroir-expressive wines.
