The 2016 Moulin-à-Vent Le Plantier de Favre unfurls in the glass with youthfully reserved scents of pomegranate, dark chocolate, grilled squab and rich spices, followed by a medium to full-bodied, layered and complete palate with the most structural refinement, depth and integration of all Boillot's four cuvées. This is a superb Moulin-à-Vent that ranks among the two or three best renditions of the appellation in 2016. It will age gracefully for more than 15 years.

Bright violet. Deeply perfumed cherry and dark berry scents show excellent clarity and pick up a mineral accent with aeration. Plush, round and sappy on the palate, offering ripe boysenberry and floral pastille flavors and a touch of five-spice powder. Impressively concentrated and velvety in texture, with a smooth, very long and gently tannic finish that leaves behind intense blue fruit and spicecake notes.
