The 2016 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru is refined and delineated on the nose with perfumed red and black fruit interlaced with iris and rose petals, a hint of orange pith in the background. The palate is medium-bodied with rounded and very pliant tannins. This is a luxurious Clos de Vougeot from winemaker Charles Van Canneyt. Quite tender and yet delivers the intensity and depth that you expect on the finish. It needs another couple of years in bottle but it has the structure to merit long-term cellaring. Superb. Tasted blind at the 2016 Burgfest tasting.
