Robert Parker Wine Advocate Erin Larkin - 22 Feb 24
The 2021 Larose returns stylistically to the dark, dense 2019 vintage, with a palate that is weighty and tightly wound, with resinous oak, Christmas cake spice, arnica root, peat, roasted beets, bitter chocolate/raw cocoa, dried herbs and roasted bone marrow. It's a very good wine but doesn't have the finesse, levity and magic of the 2020 tasted prior.

So grassy and pungent it could almost be a white! Cabernet Franc working overtime here? The palate has ripe blackcurrant fruit to balance the greenness and there is bold oak spice too. Firm, appetising tannins made drinkable by plentiful acidic freshness. Persistent but the complexity remains under wraps for now. (RH)
