Vinous Neal Martin - 12 Dec 23
The 2019 Meursault Poruzot 1er Cru shows some reduction on the nose and doesn't seem to possess the delineation of Fabien Coche's Goutte d'Or tasted alongside. It displays light, flinty aromas mixed with egg whites. The palate is well balanced with a lightly-spiced entry and a patina of oak to be subsumed. It does slightly dry out the finish at the moment. This needs to cohere over the next two or three years. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting.

Meursault Fine Wine

Meursault

Meursault, in Burgundy's Côte de Beaune, is famed for its rich and complex Chardonnay wines. Known for opulent textures, vibrant acidity, and nutty, buttery flavours with notes of stone fruits, citrus, and hazelnuts, these wines also feature a subtle minerality and creamy mouthfeel from limestone-rich soils and oak ageing. Though lacking Grand Cru vineyards, Premier Cru sites like Les Perrières, Les Genevrières, and Les Charmes produce exceptional wines. Top producers include Domaine des Comtes Lafon, Domaine Roulot, and Domaine Coche-Dury, all celebrated for showcasing Meursault's unique terroir.
