The 2021 Mazoyères-Chambertin Grand Cru was slightly reduced on the nose but there is plenty of fruit here, real complexity and drive. There is clearly some whole cluster lending light peppery notes. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grain tannins and notes of blood orange and graphite infusing the dark plummy fruit. Quite Mazoyères-like towards the finish with tangible grip, this will require three or four years in bottle to contend with the reduction that seems to bed in rather than dissipate with aeration. But I can see the potential. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.
