The 2021 Nuits Saint-Georges Aux Lavières is fragrant and quite floral on the nose: brambly red fruit, hints of brown spice and sous-bois. Very impressive focus here. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, taut and fresh, maybe just missing a bit of substance on the slightly green and peppery finish. This needs to meld together and gain more matière.

Nuits-Saint-Georges

Nuits-Saint-Georges, a renowned appellation in Burgundy's Côte de Nuits, is famous for its robust, structured Pinot Noir wines with rich flavours of dark cherries, blackberries, and plums, along with earthy, spicy notes. Known for firm tannins and full-bodied character, these wines are ideal for ageing. Although lacking Grand Cru vineyards, Premier Cru sites like Les Saint-Georges and Les Vaucrains produce exceptional wines. Top producers include Domaine Henri Gouges, Domaine Faiveley, and Domaine Robert Chevillon, all celebrated for showcasing the unique terroir with traditional winemaking.
