Vinous Neal Martin - 01 Aug 18
The 2016 Chablis is a marked step up in concentration over the Petit Chablis with almond and grilled walnut notes discretely intertwined with the citrus fruit. The palate is very well balanced with fine precision, touches of orange zest, quite rich for a Chablis but very poised and elegant on the easygoing, light-hearted finish.

Chablis

Chablis, the northernmost Burgundy region, is famed for its crisp, mineral-driven Chardonnay wines. Unlike rich, oaky Chardonnays, Chablis wines, influenced by the cool climate and limestone-rich soils, feature vibrant acidity and flavours of green apple, citrus, and flint. Ideal with seafood, especially oysters, Chablis wines come in four appellations: Petit Chablis, Chablis, Chablis Premier Cru, and Chablis Grand Cru. Esteemed producers like Domaine William Fèvre, François Raveneau, and Vincent Dauvissat are known for their classic, terroir-expressive wines.
