Vintage Overview
The vintage was characterised by a variable growing season, with a cool, wet spring followed by warm, dry conditions in January and rainfall during harvest. Careful vineyard management and selective picking resulted in lower yields, but exceptional fruit quality, with the whites, particularly Riesling, showing vibrant aromatics, bright natural acidity and fine structure.
Grosset, Polish Hill, Riesling 2026
Jeffrey Grosset has built an exceptional reputation over the past four decades, with Polish Hill at the heart of it. Produced from a biodynamically farmed vineyard established in 1996, the vines grow on exceptionally hard slate soils in the Clare Valley. The 2026 is intensely aromatic, with lime blossom, vibrant citrus and a distinctive chalky minerality. There is real power here, but also incredible finesse and balance.
Perhaps most impressive is its ability to age. Grosset himself suggests that the wine could comfortably develop for up to 25 years, although it is equally captivating in its youth.
