Tasting Notes

Vinous Josh Raynolds - 01 Dec 14
Pale yellow. Bright, mineral-accented aromas of candied orange and nectarine, complicated by an intense floral accent and a hint of ginger. Taut, penetrating orchard fruit and citrus zest flavors pick up spiciness with air and show very good depth. Finishes dry and stony, with excellent clarity and lingering mineral and floral notes. This impressively pure, balanced Champagne has the concentration to reward cellaring.

Champagne

Champagne, exclusively from France's Champagne region, is synonymous with luxury and celebration. Made primarily from Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier, it undergoes secondary fermentation in the bottle, creating its signature bubbles. Flavours range from crisp green apple and citrus to rich, toasty notes of nuts and honey. Yeast contact in the bottle contributes to pastry and brioche notes, which are a key part of good quality Champagne. Top producers include Moët & Chandon, Veuve Clicquot, and Krug.
