The 2014 Meursault Les Tillets has a very perfumed nose with lime flower, citrus fruit and cold limestone scents that possess more vigour that Javillier's other 2014s. The palate is fresh and vibrant with a citric thread of acidity. Plenty of energy here, quite linear at the moment, but there is commendable precision on the malic finish that leaves the mouth fresh and wanting more.

Bright, pale yellow. Subdued but pure aromas of grapefruit pith and soft citrus fruits. Shows a sappy sweetness and a sexy leesy nuance to its flavors of lemon zest, black pepper and sea breeze. Lovely intensity here, not to mention nice breadth and length and no hardness. In a rather cool style but this wine should nonetheless give considerable early pleasure.

Magnum. Deep green-gold. Very ‘serious’ nose. Much denser than the Maranges and St-Aubins I have just been tasting. Marked acidity and no shortage of fine, ripe fruit. This is clearly still very youthful, presumably accentuated in this magnum. Great structure and persistence. (JR)

Meursault Fine Wine

Meursault

Meursault, in Burgundy's Côte de Beaune, is famed for its rich and complex Chardonnay wines. Known for opulent textures, vibrant acidity, and nutty, buttery flavours with notes of stone fruits, citrus, and hazelnuts, these wines also feature a subtle minerality and creamy mouthfeel from limestone-rich soils and oak ageing. Though lacking Grand Cru vineyards, Premier Cru sites like Les Perrières, Les Genevrières, and Les Charmes produce exceptional wines. Top producers include Domaine des Comtes Lafon, Domaine Roulot, and Domaine Coche-Dury, all celebrated for showcasing Meursault's unique terroir.
