The 2013 Chianti Classico Riserva Levigne is a full and generous wine with bold cherry and blackberry aromas followed by spice, tobacco and pressed rose. The floral element is interesting and unexpected. Cinnamon and allspice also appear at the rear. This Chianti Classico Riserva offers some bitter tartness on the close, but it also has enough sweet fruit to balance it out.

Radda in Chianti. 100% Sangiovese. Deep ruby with orange tinges. Subdued cherry fruit with a hint of menthol, green leaves and candied fruit. Supple, juicy, sweet fruit ending on unpolished, chewy tannins. Slight heat, but overall more than sound. (WS)
