The 2014 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Chaignots 1er Cru has a very attractive bouquet that has a little more fruit and vigor than its peers. Blackberries, morels and leather touches come through with time. The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannins, but there is a little more flesh compared to others. Hickory-tinged red fruit with a dash of Chinese 5-spice appear towards the finish. Drinking perfectly now, but I sense that it would improve with decanting.

Brilliant clarity to the fruit, but less firmness than is typical for Nuits-St-Georges. A watercolour version of an oil painting. (RH)
