The 2008 Collecion Privada was sourced from 2 vineyards ranging in age from 55-60 years. It was aged for 18 months in 100% new French and American oak. Loaded with spice, incense, and floral notes along with toasty oak and black fruits, on the palate it is dense, round, plush, and succulent. (aged in a 50/50 blend of new French and American barriques Vivid ruby. Crushed raspberry, candied licorice and Asian spices on the highly fragrant nose. Extremely primary and deep, with a medicinal cast to the powerful but very backward flavors of red fruit preserves and smoky minerals. Assertively fruity but also structured, with a long, sweet finish that features fine-grained tannins and lingering smokiness.
