2007 - Vosne-Romanee 1er Cru Aux Malconsorts Christiane, Domaine de Montille

Medium red. Ineffable perfume of wild strawberry and white pepper. Then juicy, tight and backward, with a more powerful crushed-stone minerality than the regular Malconsorts but not the previous wine's texture and complexity. The energy of this wine is exceptional but I find it hard to taste today. Montille says it's deeper than the regular wine, but I'll wait to taste these two wines in bottle. Incidentally, these two cuvees offer a rare near-perfect experiment in terroir, as the two parcels feature vines planted at the same time and were vinified with 80% whole clusters and the identical percentage of new oak.
