The 2011 Gevrey-Chambertin Cherbaudes 1er Cru is already showing a little degradation on the rim. The nose is charming with pressed flower aromas filtering through the wild strawberry and raspberry fruit, becoming quite confit in style. The palate is balanced and poised with red berry fruit, tobacco and hints of undergrowth on the entry. The oak is well enmeshed with the structure of this Cherbaudes, gently fanning out in assured style towards the languorous finish. Superb. Tasted at Flint Wines Burgundy 2011 tasting.

Relatively pale. Fragrant, charming and long. Delicate red fruit, very gentle and yet very long with a foundation that goes deep. Such fine balance. (JH)
