Jancis Robinson Julia Harding - 13 Jul 16
Deep, dark cherry red. Sweet spice, much darker-fruited than any rioja in this J&B line-up so far. Thick, velvety tannins that still offer some resistance on the palate. Some dried fig here too but not at all overripe, and masses of freshness on the velvet finish. (JH)
