Vinous Neal Martin - 01 Nov 18
The 2015 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Cazetiers 1er Cru offers broody red and black fruit on the nose, along with undergrowth and mulch-like scents that suggest some stem addition. The palate is medium-bodied, offering supple raspberry and blackberry flavors laced with graphite and a hint of white pepper. It remains steely and focused for the first two-thirds; on the final third it threatens to fan out, then disappears rapidly, leaving you wondering what the hell happened. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting.

Gevrey-Chambertin Fine Wine

Gevrey-Chambertin

Gevrey-Chambertin, a prestigious Burgundy appellation in Côte de Nuits, is renowned for producing powerful Pinot Noir wines, often called the "King of Burgundy." These wines are known for bold flavours, complex aromas of dark cherries, blackcurrants, truffles, and spices, with robust structure and excellent ageing potential. The appellation includes nine Grand Cru vineyards, notably Chambertin and Chambertin-Clos de Bèze. Top producers like Domaine Armand Rousseau, Domaine Fourrier, and Domaine Denis Mortet craft wines that reflect the unique terroir and tradition of Gevrey-Chambertin.
