Boasting a more rarefied, flowery nose and delicate palate than that of the corresponding A.P. #9, this auctioned bottling of Wehlener Sonnenuhr Spätlese features a haunting amalgam of honeysuckle, heliotrope, mint and vanilla against a luscious background of apple and pear. There is flattering creaminess but not at the expense of clarity, and the mouthwateringly salt-tinged finish positively shimmers in its exchange of fruity and mineral, flowery and herbal nuances.

Raimund Prüm's 2014 Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Spätlese (AP #08 15) displays super ripe and well focused fruit flavors intertwined with nicely refined slate aromas. Bottled with 7.5% alcohol, this is a pretty sweet but elegant, delicate and refreshing Sonnenuhr with a lush tropical fruit texture and a lingering salinity. Very well done and already accessible. A delicious Riesling.
