Tasting Notes

94
Vinous Stephen Tanzer - 01 Nov 00
Saturated red-ruby. Somewhat reticent yet precise aromas of black cherry, minerals and brown spices. Less sweet and more backward than the Pajana, but chewy with extract. Firm acids and tannins give this remarkably rich wine a powerful backbone. This closed up like a bivalve in the glass. Likely to be the best of these '96s with several years of bottle aging.

Barolo Vineyard Fine Wine

Barolo

Barolo, the "King of Wines," is a prestigious red from Piedmont, Italy, made exclusively from Nebbiolo grapes. Known for deep complexity, Barolo offers rich flavours of dark cherries, roses, truffles, and spices, with high acidity and firm tannins. It ages exceptionally well, evolving in depth and nuance. Barolo's diverse terroirs create a range of styles, from powerful to delicate. Top producers include Gaja, Bruno Giacosa, Giuseppe Rinaldi, and Marchesi di Barolo, all of whom exemplify Barolo's tradition and quality.
