Smoky cedar welcome on the first nose, the acidity is still pretty high at 15 years old, traces of tobacco, approaching full drinking window, a little less generous for than some 2009s, here this is still roasted fennel, sandalwood, cassis, saffron and bitter black chocolate. Pauline Vauthier winemaker, working with her father and co-owner Alain Vauthier. Good stuff, just about ready to drink, but less generous than some 2009s.

Bright red-ruby. Pure, lively aromas of blackberry and licorice lifted by violet and minerals. Chewy, nicely delineated and ripe but not at all overly sweet, with dark berry flavors firmed by saline minerality. Plenty of tannic support gives this wine good staying power.

Bordeaux

Red Bordeaux, globally renowned, is crafted in France’s Bordeaux region from grapes like Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc. These full-bodied wines feature dark fruit flavours, earthy and spicy notes, and often benefit from ageing. Top producers include Château Margaux, Château Latour, and Château Lafite Rothschild. White Bordeaux, made from Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon, offers styles from crisp to rich, with citrus and tropical notes. Sweet Bordeaux wines, like Sauternes, are famed for their rich sweetness and flavours of apricot and honey, with Château d’Yquem as a leading producer.
