The 2016 Meursault Les Perrières 1er Cru is tightly wound and a little sullen on the nose at first, gradually—or perhaps reluctantly—opening. I find myself seeking more mineralité given the vineyard. The palate is pure yet backward, with good depth of lemon sherbet, lime, touches of quince and crushed stone towards the finish (finally!). It doesn't quite convince me as much as Coche-Dury's other Perrières. Tasted at the Richebourg vertical dinner in Taipei.

Meursault Fine Wine

Meursault

Meursault, in Burgundy's Côte de Beaune, is famed for its rich and complex Chardonnay wines. Known for opulent textures, vibrant acidity, and nutty, buttery flavours with notes of stone fruits, citrus, and hazelnuts, these wines also feature a subtle minerality and creamy mouthfeel from limestone-rich soils and oak ageing. Though lacking Grand Cru vineyards, Premier Cru sites like Les Perrières, Les Genevrières, and Les Charmes produce exceptional wines. Top producers include Domaine des Comtes Lafon, Domaine Roulot, and Domaine Coche-Dury, all celebrated for showcasing Meursault's unique terroir.
