Vinous Josh Raynolds - 01 Sep 19
Deep lurid ruby. Dark berries, potpourri, cracked pepper and smoky minerals on the highly perfumed nose. Juicy, penetrating and gently sweet, offering densely packed blackberry, cherry and candied violet flavors that are firmed by a spine of juicy acidity. Dusty tannins add grip to a persistent, mineral-laced finish that strongly repeats the floral note.

More candied than their Passion de Terrasses, with a sweet cherry note like marzipan on the nose. Lovely sweet spices from oak too. Fairly full tannic bite on the finish. (RH)

Rhone Vineyard Valley of Fine Wine

Rhone

The Rhône Valley in southeastern France is famed for its diverse wines. It's divided into Northern Rhône, known for Syrah-based reds and white wines from Viognier, Marsanne, and Roussanne, and Southern Rhône, which features blends like Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre. Northern Rhône wines, such as Côte-Rôtie and Hermitage, are intense and complex, while Southern Rhône's Châteauneuf-du-Pape is known for powerful, spicy reds. Top producers include E. Guigal, Domaine du Pegau, and Domaine Jean-Louis Chave, exemplifying the region's rich winemaking tradition.
