The 2014 Chassagne-Montrachet La Grande Montagne 1er Cru has a fresh, crushed limestone, Granny Smith and yellow fruit nose that bursts from the glass. It has wonderful tension, quintessentially Chassagne. The palate is well-balanced with sensual quince, popcorn and light toffee apple notes. This is approaching its peak now. It is pretty tender towards the finish, with a residual spiciness that is very appealing. Excellent. Tasted at Stannery Wines' producer tasting in London.
