The 2016 Doisy-Daëne is more backward on the nose, but there is impressive delineation and tension, hints of beeswax infusing the honey fruit. The palate is well balanced with impressive depth, lovely grip, a keen line of acidity and superb cohesion towards the finish. Meanwhile, the nose finally begins to open. Excellent. Tasted blind at the Southwold 10-Year-On tasting.

Stunning. A vintage that continues to reveal new depths. Pineapple tatin, confit of citrus peel, honeysuckle, bitter almonds, beautifully expressive with a real purity of flavour.

Pale lemon in color, the 2016 Doisy Daëne leaps from the glass with flamboyant tropical fruit notions of warm pineapple, guava and passion fruit plus hints of lime cordial, fungi, musk perfume and chalk dust. The palate has loads of earthy/savory layers with great concentration and depth, finishing long and lively.

Tasted blind. Dark amber. Not that much nose but lots going on on the sweet-and-savoury twangy palate! Masses of energy and really lovely. Rudely lovely and sweet. BIG! (JR)

Bordeaux

Red Bordeaux, globally renowned, is crafted in France’s Bordeaux region from grapes like Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc. These full-bodied wines feature dark fruit flavours, earthy and spicy notes, and often benefit from ageing. Top producers include Château Margaux, Château Latour, and Château Lafite Rothschild. White Bordeaux, made from Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon, offers styles from crisp to rich, with citrus and tropical notes. Sweet Bordeaux wines, like Sauternes, are famed for their rich sweetness and flavours of apricot and honey, with Château d’Yquem as a leading producer.
