Vinous Neal Martin - 01 Jan 19
The 2017 Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes comes from 65-year old vines and matures in 15% new oak. This has a more flamboyant and extrovert bouquet than the Beaune Les Tuerons, though that is partly because it had just undergone the racking. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red fruit, a gutsy Gevrey with good substance and brims over with freshness on the finish. What a delicious, charming Gevrey from Rossignol-Trapet - this comes highly recommended.
