The 2017 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Cazetiers 1er Cru has a beautifully defined, elegant bouquet of disarming purity – a real charmer. The palate is very well balanced, demonstrating assiduous use of stems. Poised, natural and tensile toward the tart finish, this is classic Gevrey-Chambertin, very well crafted if just a little exotic in style. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2017 tasting.

Light to mid crimson. Sour-cherry on the nose, fragrant and lifted. The tannins are a touch firmer than on the Vosne Champs Perdrix but still super-fine, almost chalky. Rather light on the mid palate but well sustained. (JH)

Gevrey-Chambertin Fine Wine

Gevrey-Chambertin

Gevrey-Chambertin, a prestigious Burgundy appellation in Côte de Nuits, is renowned for producing powerful Pinot Noir wines, often called the "King of Burgundy." These wines are known for bold flavours, complex aromas of dark cherries, blackcurrants, truffles, and spices, with robust structure and excellent ageing potential. The appellation includes nine Grand Cru vineyards, notably Chambertin and Chambertin-Clos de Bèze. Top producers like Domaine Armand Rousseau, Domaine Fourrier, and Domaine Denis Mortet craft wines that reflect the unique terroir and tradition of Gevrey-Chambertin.
