Vinous Antonio Galloni - 01 Oct 13
Plums, cloves, menthol and a host of dark, balsamic-infused aromas and flavors wrap around the palate as the 2010 Barbaresco Rombone opens up in the glass. With a little time, the wine blossoms beautifully, showing remarkable depth and richness. Here the tannins are barely noticeable, as the fruit virtually buries the wine's structural components. The Rombone spent one year in French oak barrels (33% new) followed by a second year in cask.

Robert Parker Wine Advocate Monica Larner - 26 Jun 14
Boasting bright energy and a youthful personality, the 2010 Barbaresco Rombone hails from a cru that is very much identified with the greater Nada family of Treiso. This Barbaresco shows a great sense of inner structure and intensity with defined berry tones followed by ethereal notes of cola, dried ginger, crushed flowers and grilled herbs. It shows a good level of drinkability now that will only improve with time. Rombone shows the structure for long aging. Drink: 2016-2027. Importer: Premium Brands, Forest Hills; NY; tel. Barbaresco

Barbaresco, a prestigious red from Piedmont, Italy, is made exclusively from Nebbiolo grapes. Known as the “Queen” of Piedmont wines, it offers elegance and aromatic complexity with flavours of red cherries, raspberries, roses, and earthy notes. Its well-integrated tannins and vibrant acidity enhance its ageing potential. With calcareous soils and favourable microclimates, Barbaresco is a more approachable alternative to Barolo. Top producers include Gaja, Produttori del Barbaresco, Bruno Giacosa, and Pio Cesare, who exemplify its refined character.
