Limpid ruby-red. Highly perfumed aromas of ripe red fruits, pungent flowers and incense; exotic spice and smoky mineral flourishes build with air. Juicy and energetic on the palate, offering appealingly sweet cherry and raspberry flavors and a tangy hint of blood orange. The floral and spice notes recur on an impressively long, smooth finish framed by supple, even tannins. Made with one-third whole clusters.

The 2018 Pinot Noir Les Dijonnais has a medium ruby color and aromas of red cherries and wild blackberries with notes of prosciutto, tangerine peel and black tea leaves. The medium-bodied palate has bright freshness and ripe, earth-laced fruit that lingers on the finish.

Ex journalist Doug Tunnell’s operation with Dijon clones. (It was Tunnell who urged Simon Davies of A & B Vintners to educate me regarding Oregon’s current wine scene, having seen Oregon’s meagre showing in A Pinot Noir switcheroo.)Lots of acidity and lifted nose. Almost like a super beaujolais cru! Such a lot of pleasure here. Fruit, juice, fine tannin and no shortage of freshness. Sappy. Long and very clean. (JR)
