Vinous Neal Martin - 01 Jan 20
The 2018 Beaune Les Avaux 1er Cru, blended with 50% whole cluster, has a well-defined bouquet of earthy, black-pepper- and clove-infused red berry fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins. More black fruit comes through toward the finish, and touches of sage and white pepper linger on the aftertaste. Very fine.

Quite pungent. Smooth and fresh. Nicely judged even if not the earthiest. Quite flattering. Succecssful. (JR)
