The 2019 Corton Clos du Roy Grand Cru is excellent, offering up aromas of sweet berry fruit, licorice, warm spices, rose petals and loamy soil. Medium to full-bodied, lively and concentrated, it's deep but fine-boned, with a more linear, tightly wound profile than the ampler, broader Bressandes. With time, however, I believe it will emerge as Guyon's finest 2019.

0.55-ha parcel of 50- to 60-year-old vines, ploughed by horses. 50% whole bunch. Tank sample.Paler than most of this grower’s wines. Smooth and a little simple on the palate without the energy of some of its stablemates. A sample problem? (JR)
