A structured vintage that comes across straight away in the tannic frame and in the deep cherry red colour, great consistency from rim through to the centre of the glass. Damson and brambled autumnal fruit, holding its freshness and vibrancy, one of the key signatures of Tour des Termes. In these years the grapes were drawn largely from the gravel section in front of the château, and it's delivering plenty of finesse. Christophe Anney owner and winemaker, Hubert de Boüard consultant. 50% new oak for ageing.

The 2018 Tour des Termes has quite a punchy bouquet featuring upfront brambly red berry fruit, mint and sage aromas, well defined if not terribly complex. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins, fresh and grippy, leading to a dense, charcoal-tinged finish that lingers. It is quite backward but I admire its cohesion and focus, so just afford it 2–3 years in bottle. Tasted twice with consistent notes.

Cru bourgeois supérieur. ???????60% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Cabernet Franc, 5% Petit Verdot.Bright, dark fruit with a certain purity of expression. Merlot lends a touch of sweetness to the palate but a line of freshness lingers behind. Juicy with a firm finish. Alcohol shows. (JL)

These wines are deeply coloured, with firm tannins and rich flavours of dark fruits, earth, and spice, making them structured and age-worthy. Top producers include Château Cos d'Estournel, Château Montrose, and Château Calon-Ségur. The region's gravelly and clay-rich soils contribute to the wines' distinctive character and complexity.
