Tasting Notes

Robert Parker Wine Advocate William Kelley - 09 Jan 20
Aromas of crisp green pear, clear honey, citrus oil, oatmeal and struck match introduce Ente's 2017 Meursault 1er Cru Les Gouttes d'Or, a full-bodied, deep and textural wine that's concentrated and complete while remaining racy and incisive. Tasted from bottle, this confirms its super showing last year and will be well worth seeking out.

In tank since just before the 2018 harvest and will be bottled in March or April. 75% vinified in barrel, none new. More spicy than the Sève du Clos but also a riper fruit profile. Intense lemon fruit and a touch of orange cream. Richer and creamier in the mouth with a little more sense of oak but not in the least oaky, just spice and a slight sweetness. More rounded but no lack of freshness here. (JH)

Meursault Fine Wine

Meursault

Meursault, in Burgundy's Côte de Beaune, is famed for its rich and complex Chardonnay wines. Known for opulent textures, vibrant acidity, and nutty, buttery flavours with notes of stone fruits, citrus, and hazelnuts, these wines also feature a subtle minerality and creamy mouthfeel from limestone-rich soils and oak ageing. Though lacking Grand Cru vineyards, Premier Cru sites like Les Perrières, Les Genevrières, and Les Charmes produce exceptional wines. Top producers include Domaine des Comtes Lafon, Domaine Roulot, and Domaine Coche-Dury, all celebrated for showcasing Meursault's unique terroir.
