Robert Parker Wine Advocate William Kelley - 14 Jan 21
The 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Les Cazetiers is very promising, mingling notes of rose petals and wild berries with hints of loamy soil, sweet spices and a discreet application of new oak. Medium to full-bodied, layered and textural, it's fleshy and enveloping, with lively acids and a suave, elegant profile. This is well worth seeking out.

The 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Cazetiers 1er Cru takes time to settle in the glass. Predominantly red-fruited, with cranberry and raspberry, it is higher-toned that its peers, but well-defined and quite sumptuous in style. The palate is medium-bodied with a solid structure, though is perhaps a little more rigid and unflexing than some others. Slightly candied toward the finish but with satisfying tension, I feel this has more to give. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.

Gevrey-Chambertin Fine Wine

Gevrey-Chambertin

Gevrey-Chambertin, a prestigious Burgundy appellation in Côte de Nuits, is renowned for producing powerful Pinot Noir wines, often called the "King of Burgundy." These wines are known for bold flavours, complex aromas of dark cherries, blackcurrants, truffles, and spices, with robust structure and excellent ageing potential. The appellation includes nine Grand Cru vineyards, notably Chambertin and Chambertin-Clos de Bèze. Top producers like Domaine Armand Rousseau, Domaine Fourrier, and Domaine Denis Mortet craft wines that reflect the unique terroir and tradition of Gevrey-Chambertin.
