Vinous Antonio Galloni - 01 Feb 22
The 2019 de Pressac is just as compelling from bottle as it was from barrel. A complex, mesmerizing wine, Pressac offers up an exotic mélange of black cherry, plum, chocolate, new leather, licorice, spice and menthol. All the elements are so well balanced. Espresso,, lavender, dried rose petal and cedar linger on the complex, beautifully delineated finish. The 2019 is seriously impressive. It's as simple as that.

Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2019 de Pressac sashays out with flamboyant Morello cherries, mulberries, and blueberry preserves, plus star anise and menthol wafts. Medium to full-bodied, the mouth is coated with juicy black fruits and a firm frame of rounded tannins, finishing with compelling freshness.

Inside Bordeaux Jane Anson - 26 Jan 22
Broad shouldered but precise, this is an attractive vintage at Pressac that has held its momentum and drive over ageing. Firm tannins still, with plenty of blueberry and blackberry fruit, a black pepper lick through the finish. 65% new oak. A yield of 40hl/ha, with the unusual characteristic of featuring all five main Bordeaux red varieties in the blend. Tasted twice.

Robert Parker Wine Advocate William Kelley - 07 Apr 22
More tightly wound, the 2019 de Pressac reveals aromas of cherries, red berries, spices and dark chocolate. Medium to full-bodied, lively and nicely concentrated, it will reward a bit of bottle age.

Jancis Robinson Jancis Robinson - 19 Dec 21
Half-bottle sample supplied. From Jean-François and Dominique Quenin. 71% Merlot, 16% Cabernet Franc, 9% Cabernet Sauvignon, 2% Carmenère, 2% 'Noir de Pressac' (Malbec). Quite an evolved garnet, almost ruby. And evolved aromatically too with well-integrated flavours. The fruit seems to have been pretty ripe here though there is freshness too. Only light tannins. Pleasure in the relatively short term? (JR)

Bordeaux

Red Bordeaux, globally renowned, is crafted in France’s Bordeaux region from grapes like Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc. These full-bodied wines feature dark fruit flavours, earthy and spicy notes, and often benefit from ageing. Top producers include Château Margaux, Château Latour, and Château Lafite Rothschild. White Bordeaux, made from Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon, offers styles from crisp to rich, with citrus and tropical notes. Sweet Bordeaux wines, like Sauternes, are famed for their rich sweetness and flavours of apricot and honey, with Château d’Yquem as a leading producer.
