Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, the 2017 Deyrem Valentin leaps from the glass with notes of Morello cherries, black raspberries and fresh blackcurrants plus touches of bay leaves, truffles and tapenade. Medium-bodied, the palate is packed with loads of red and black fruit flavors plus plenty of earthy accents and a plush texture, finishing with great freshness.

The 2017 Deyrem Valentin has come together nicely during élevage. It remains a bit light in body, and yet all the elements are very nicely balanced throughout. Crushed flowers, sweet red cherry fruit, mint, sweet tobacco and cedar add nuance throughout. There is a lot to like in this approachable, mid-weight Margaux.

50% Merlot, 48% Cabernet Sauvignon, 1% Petit Verdot, 1% Carmenère.Mid cherry red. Cedary cassis with a light oaky overlay and opening to a delicate floral note. Beautifully scented on the palate, light bodied but balanced. Nicely dry on the finish, scented and persistent. (JH)
