Vinous Neal Martin - 01 Dec 21
The 2020 Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes has a delightful, mineral-driven bouquet with redcurrant, raspberry preserve and crushed stone. Quintessentially Gevrey. The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannins, gentle grip, a nice bitter cherry undertow with a lingering saline finish. This is well worth seeking out.

Richer and deeper pitched, the 2020 Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes mingles aromas of wild berries and plums with hints of baking chocolate, sweet spices and peonies. Medium to full-bodied, velvety and textural, it's layered and fleshy, with an ample core of fruit, powdery tannins and lively balancing acids.

Mid crimson. Rather subtle, very fruity nose. Then the fruit on the palate is encased in quite a well-built oak structure. Definitely built for the long term. (JR)
