The 2020 Gevrey-Chambertin Lavaut Saint-Jacques Vieilles Vignes 1er Cru, which is one of Duroché’s cuvées reduced to a single barrel, has a wonderful bouquet with brambly red fruit, crushed stone, potpourri and light briary scents. The palate is very well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, silky smooth and harmonious, gently fanning out on the persistent finish. This has real class. The only downside is the quantity!

Unwinding in the glass with aromas of cherries, dark berries, licorice and sweet soil tones, the 2020 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Lavaut Saint-Jacques Vieilles Vignes is medium to full-bodied, supple and seamless, with a deep, enveloping core of fruit, lively acids and a long, perfumed finish.
