Robert Parker Wine Advocate Stephan Reinhardt - 30 Jun 22
The 2017 Jaspis Spätburgunder Bürgin offers a deep, pure, intense, spicy, generous and matured but refined and elegant bouquet of dark fruits, red cherries, nougat and freshly milled Madagascar pepper. Silky textured, refined and fresh on the palate, this is a full-bodied, pure and vivacious Pinot with fruit and floral intensity, fine tannins and a German Spätburgunder finish that is often less focused and tends toward dried fruits and floral notes. The finish is delicate, fresh and stunningly long. This is an initially fabulous Pinot Noir from the Oberrhein (Haut-Rhin, Upper Rhine) that lost a bit of its fascination over 11 days in the bottle (in contrast to the 2019s). 12.5% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted in June 2022.
