There is a new 2020 Ecràl Carmenere that in reality contains some 15% Cabernet Sauvignon. It was produced for the first time with vines planted 20 years ago in the Andes part of Maipo. It matured in French barrels for 14 months and is ripe and peppery, with 14.5% alcohol. It has a medium to full-bodied palate with dusty tannins. 20,000 bottles.

Chile

Chile’s diverse geography – desert north, mountain spine, and coastal valleys – makes it a winemaker’s playground. From spicy Carménère to crisp Sauvignon Blanc, there’s a wealth of choice here. Newer regions like Limarí and Itata bring freshness and nuance, while Maipo and Colchagua deliver bold reds with classic poise. Chile continues to overdeliver, offering wines of quality and personality across the board.
