The NV 20 Year Old Tawny Port is a field blend bottled in 2022 with 129 grams of residual sugar and a bar-top cork. A beautiful 20, this is sensually textured with an unusual amount of velvet, and then it provides fresh and nuanced flavors, delicious caramels and chocolate. There is nothing bitter here and no molasses. This is perfectly balanced, elegant and completely fresh.

The 20-Year Old Tawny Port bottled in 2018 comes from low-lying, south-facing vineyards and includes partial ageing in larger-size vessels. Much darker in colour than the Graham’s counterpart, the bouquet offers an enticing mélange of dark cherry compote, clove, hazelnut and marmalade that gently unfolds in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied but clearly endowed with more heft and density than the Graham’s. This is quite nutty and spicy, featuring ginger and Seville orange marmalade and impressive weight and persistency on the finish. Superb. Tasted at the Symington Tawny Port tasting at the Tower of London.

Portugal Fine Wine and Fortified Port

Portugal

Portugal is a treasure trove of indigenous grapes, ancient traditions and modern confidence. From the schistous slopes of the Douro to the breezy Atlantic coast, the wines offer freshness, texture and authenticity. Expect structured reds, mineral whites, and of course, Port – but also thrilling lesser-known finds from regions like Dão, Bairrada and Alentejo. A rich, expressive and hugely rewarding wine culture.
