The 2022 Vosne-Romanée Aux Malconsorts 1er Cru is very complex on the nose, leaning more towards black fruit this time, with crushed limestone and hints of ash and forest floor. It seems to expand in the glass. The palate is more linear and stricter than the Suchots, yet more tension and spiciness come towards the bravura finish. The second winter will lend this more weight, and it should be a stunning Malconsorts for the future.

This site is often very reserved out of barrel, yet the 2022 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Aux Malconsorts was already quite open and expressive when I tasted it. Revealing aromas of plums, sweet berries, smoked duck and spices, it's full-bodied, ample and layered, with a rich, textural core of fruit and a broad, expansive finish.
